Boy Scouts of America Troop 2146

Leadership Opportunities and Skills Teaching for Tuxedo’s and Sloatsburg’s Young Men

Our program provides an environment in which young men aged 11 through 18 can learn, develop and grow.

Youth involvement, leadership and education through values and love for Community, God and Country.

  • At our weekly meetings, we hold teaching sessions, plan for campouts, play games, work on rank advancement and more. Meeting are held at our sponsor, the Eagle Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Eagle Valley, Tuxedo, NY.

  • Usually monthly, our boys go on campouts, where they build fundamental outdoor skills, go on hikes, work on service projects, cook, complete rank advancements and merit badge requirements, and countless other elements of work and play.

  • The Boy Scouts are deeply invested in giving back to the community through service projects. We regularly do public service of all types.

  • During the summer, boys will spend a week at a scout camp, attending merit badge classes, working on rank advancement and developing skills fundamental for scouting

  • Merit badges are recognitions of a scout learning a new useful skill. From badges based off leadership to outdoor skills to athleticism, merit badges enable scouts to further their journey in developing life skills and independence.

  • Each scout’s dream is to reach the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. There are numerous stepping stones to this rank, each being its own milestone of new skills and hard work. There are numerous requirements a scout must complete before he reaches the next rank. These take time and effort, and scouts work hard to succeed and climb the ladder.

  • Boys have the opportunity to hold numerous different leadership positions within the troop. They are elected by the boys of the troop after writing and presenting a speech highlighting their leadership skills. Responsibilities include planning, orchestrating, teaching and pioneering. Many higher-up rank advancements require terms in leadership positions as requirements, ensuring that all boys have these opportunities and can learn these skills. Boys in leadership positions are a vital part of the troop, as we maintain a “Boy led and adult guided” program.
